c.1952 Linemar, Pluto In His Jaguar In Original Box

Very scarce Disney toy featuring Pluto behind the wheel of a Jaguar XK 120 Convertible! The car is a friction drive tin litho vehicle. Pluto is celluloid with painted details. Comes complete with original box too!

The Jaguar was authentically based on the real XK 120 with rounded triangular grille that follows the contour of the hood The body is embossed with doors, hood, and trunk. It has a solid black metal chassis. A Linemar brand sticker is attached to the underside and includes the Disney copyright. I've never seen this sticker before. Typically the text is stamped into the metal.

It also has a chrome plated split front windshield with original celluloid pane. The front grill, headlights, front and rear bumpers, plus the wheel covers are also chrome plated. The tires are solid black rubber. The interior including the steering wheel are tin litho.

The little torso of Pluto is completely made of celluloid. Eyes, nose, and ears were painted onto the figure.

Friction motor works great; nice and smooth. Oh, and I couldn't find any reference for this toy. In fact it's the first time I've seen it.

It comes in a neat little box that includes two illustrations of Pluto in his Jaguar; one faces right and the other left. Pluto has his mouth open and tongue hanging on both of them. The endflaps show a front view of the car without Pluto. One end of the box has the endflap and both interior flaps replaced. All three flaps on the opposite end are original.
